// Under the name of El Bostachi (the name of a wind which is bringing fish nearby the coasts). The project was an order by Gudran, egyptian group, and especially from Aliaa el Geredy, who participated the Douala residency. Gudran is working in El Max for many years, has a place there, and is developing a project between social action and cultural action.

// Gudran wanted to develop artists residencies in the place and asked ScU2 to work with them on the curatorship, particularly for the international artists.

// For reasons which are not very interesting in itself, the working relationship never came to a good point. So, even if the residence happened, even if the welcome of inhabitants was very open, even if some of the artist’s propositions were visible, the experience is not really a success. The documents by artist’s we are showing there speak, under the form of questions and accounts, about the difficulties we’ve met in link with the context. It is much more complex to work in the complexity of such a urban and cultural environment, than in an art galery. This is also an aspect of the Urban Scenography, the confrontation with this, as artist.

// At the end of this residency it became for us very clear that the question of the process and the relation with our partners are essential. Work together, first, with the artists, install a mutual trust to become able to carry on together such an event. In this kind of project, here is the key.
