Sammy Baloji a réalisé un film vidéo avec le danseur Dinozord, des jeunes femmes dont le corps est peint en direct par Pathy Tshindele. Mais il a dû rentrer à Lubumbashi avant la fin de la résidence, et le film, pour des raisons techniques, n’a pu être monté à temps pour être montré dans le cadre du festival. // Sammy made a video film with Dinozord, which is dancer, young women whose body is painted in live by Pathy Tshindele. But he had to return back to Lubumbashi before the end of the residency, and the film, for technical reasons couldn’t be edited on time to be visible during the festival.

Né en 1978 en République Démocratique du Congo, vit et travaille à Lubumbashi.Licencié en Lettres et Sciences humaines à l’Université de Lubumbashi, il s’est d’abord intéressé à la Bande dessinée pour se tourner vers la photographie et la vidéo. Il travaille depuis trois ans sur l’architecture comme trace, réalisant des reportages sur l’héritage culturel, industriel et architectural de sa région, le Katanga. Il a exposé dans différentes manifestations internationales à Bruxelles, à la Biennale de Bamako, dans le cadre de PhotoQuai (Paris, Musée du Quai Branly), à la Biennale du Cap (Afrique du Sud), mais il a aussi participé à des expositions dans sa ville natale… En 2007, il reçoit deux prix lors de la Biennale de Bamako : le prix Afrique en création (Cultures France) et il est lauréat pour le prix de l’image (Fondation Blachère). En 2008, il est à l’initiative des Rencontres de l’image de Lubumbashi, PICHA ! (image en swahili). Un évènement qui permet aux populations locales de revoir leurs histoires à travers des images d’archives mais présentant aussi le travail d’artistes émergents en art visuel.

Born in 1978 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, lives and works in Lubumbashi.He got a licence in Humanities at the University of Lubumbashi, he first became interested in comics and turned to photography and video. He worked for three years as a trace on the architecture, making reports on the cultural, industrial and architectural in its region, Katanga. He has exhibited in various international events in Brussels to Bamako Biennale in Photoquai (Paris, Musée du Quai Branly), the Biennale of Cape Town (South Africa), but he also participated in exhibitions in his hometown … In 2007, he received two awards at the Bamako Biennale: the Africa Prize in creation (Cultures France) and is the award winner of the image (Blachère Foundation). In 2008, he initiated Encounters image Lubumbashi, PICHA! (image in Swahili). An event that allows local people to revise their stories through archival images but also presenting the work of emerging artists in visual arts.
